<p> <br />illegal to get up before 8am on the first day of the holidays......</p>
<p>and yet by 8am we were at the pool.....</p>
<p>and the girls were warming up for the mini diving comp at their club.</p>
<p>It was so quick it was over by 10am....</p>
<p>beats every gym comp I ever went too which mostly consumed the whole weekend...</p>
<p>although this was nothing as elaborate but very well organised in terms of scoring and record keeping</p>
<p>and so much fun on the last day of term.</p>
<p>They run one every term but this was the first time we went .....</p>
<p>and it was just what Miss A needed to be inspired.....</p>
<p>I on the otherhand.....</p>
<p>lacked inspiration and struggled with the lighting especially since the girls did warm up on the far board</p>
<p>and no matter what I did I just could not get a decent shot this morning....</p>
<p>so instead you will have to make do with my  favourite, albeit  very flawed photo of the day....</p>

<p>a frontsault.... off the 3 meter board</p>
<p>For some reason she is really scared of them and mostly refuses....</p>
<p>she prefers this 3 meter board ... the far one with bad lighting....</p>
<p>to the other one... the one they did the comp on.... she will occassionally do the fronstault on this board but typically refuses on the other board.....</p>
<p>and yes she stuffed the first one in .... the above sequence is a combination of the second and third front sault she did....all are from the practice round</p>
<p>So the story goes that... they had an hour warm up and practice... by the end of that hour little my little territorian miss e was so cold she refused to participate in the comp....</p>
<p>ofcourse for miss e every refusal is followed by the words: "What will I get?"</p>
<p>My usual response "a kiss" didn't work.... nor did "to go shopping" (probably cause we went last night!)</p>
<p>So I resorted to bad mother tactics and played on her weakness.....</p>
<p>all the while thinking: oh what a bad mother am i and said: "Ten dollars"</p>
<p>So ten dollars it was.... and when I told Miss A she said....</p>
<p>"ooh do I get ten dollars too if I do a front sault?"</p>
<p>and so in the interest of fairness I said yes....</p>
<p>...... knowing that bribery very rarely works on that child....</p>
<p>(I had tried bribing her with a hot chocolate before!)</p>
<p>And to her credit ..... she did it.... the frontsault off the 3 meter diving board she doesn't like....</p>
<p>I strongly suspect it won her 3rd place (out of 6) and a ribbon in the comp and when she finished..</p>
<p>she came up to me and said "I did it, Did you see? Do I get my ten dollars now?"</p>
<p>Then admitted that she had completely forgotten about the money and that knowing that she did it and gaining confidence was far better than the money....</p>
<p>...... the money was just a bonus..... topped off by the fact one of her coaches was  proud of her...</p>
<p>(the other already knew she could do it- as did I)</p>
<p>There  are no photos of her frontsault from the actual competition..... </p>
<p>I watched instead and refused to jinx it by photographing her....</p>
<p>but it was much better than all of my photographs of her practice rounds...</p>

<p>she was more interested in what place everyone came than the actual competition!</p>

<p>I have to say though... that I absolutely love this place especially on a saturday morning....</p>

I took one of her doonahs .... she had two, so she needed a bazillion blankets to replace it, I on the other hand needed the doonah for A's friend who was sleeping over.</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">The car - she made at school.... L for me, an A for her and one for her sister. The 8 is because she is 8, 3 for her birthday and the 4 I can't remember.....</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">The snail.... is part of a painting set we got from the market.... she loves them... usually though I end up throwing them out but this one she put on her wall.</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">The orange and blue boxes have plasticine things in it that she made at school, she loves her teacher.... (who I might add is awesome - we could not have asked for a better one) despite the fact that she misses her friends.</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">The picture above her bed is one of those sand art things.... which she also loves. She also loves water bottles by her bed - they are a permanent fixture and Fairy books which she can now read.</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">One day I am going to finish that barbie house....</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">Oh and her room is on the second story... it overlooks the park and the backyard.</p>

<p>So once again this week kinda slipped away from me but it didn't go unnoticed that Thursday was Territory Day. I had to admit that enjoyed being able to drive safely though the streets after dark without the fear that fireworks would go off under my car or one would come hurtling towards my windscreen as I drove. I laughted at the tv reports of a man wearing a hard hat and goggles standing on Mindil beach claiming it wasn't safe..... during the last 5 minutes of 7pm.... mostly because I knew it was entirely true.... absolutely unsafe but also oh so much fun. So in some twisted kind of logic I missed the craziness of Territory day......instead the streets surrounding me were quite... no 3am crackers.... or parties all night .. only the sound of Rainbow Lorikeets:

Nandos is her new favourite. (She only likes Maccas sometimes!)</p>

Boys and Girls

So what's the difference I asked?..... I didn't really get an answer. <p style="text-align: center;">" In Antarctica it's windy so your hair blows ......</p><p style="text-align: center;">                                                   like my hair is blowing now"</p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><p style="text-align: center;">Don't you just love 8 year old wisdom</p><p style="text-align: center;">Not quite sure where she learnt that fact.</p><p style="text-align: center;">It was supposed to prove that we were not in Antarctica.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Ironically it indicated the opposite.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Yes today (and yesterday too)</p><p style="text-align: center;">I could have sworn</p><p style="text-align: center;">that I had moved to Antarctica</p><p style="text-align: center;">I'll admit that it wasn't as cold as that time in England</p><p style="text-align: center;">when it was supposedly too cold to snow</p><p style="text-align: center;">and I got laughted at for wearing to Jackets</p><p style="text-align: center;">Nope today I only had a jumper two gloves and a scarf...</p><p style="text-align: center;">but I still had to wonder....</p><p style="text-align: center;"></p><p style="text-align: center;">So one from a few weeks back, with appropriate attire for 5pm........
